On June 19, 2025, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) recognized the students elected to serve as officers of the University Student Council (USC) and the respective College Student Councils (CSCs). Their election reflects the students’ trust in their chosen representatives and their willingness to take on leadership responsibilities in representing student interests, voicing concerns, and contributing to the university community.

As elected student leaders, the USC and CSC officers play an important role in promoting student participation, facilitating communication between students and university administration, and supporting initiatives that respond to the needs of their respective student bodies. Their leadership provides opportunities for students to engage in campus governance, contribute ideas, and participate in activities that foster accountability, representation, and a stronger sense of community.

This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), particularly Target 16.2.2, concerning student unions that support student engagement and social activities, provided the councils meet the indicator’s criteria for an independent student union. Through their elected roles, the student leaders can help strengthen student representation and contribute to a more inclusive and participatory university environment. It also supports SDG 4 (Quality Education), particularly Target 4.7, by providing practical opportunities to develop responsible citizenship, leadership, and participatory governance.
