The University of the Cordilleras – College of Criminal Justice Education, through the Rights2LIFE Project and the Center for Human Rights Education, conducted a Simultaneous Seminar for Residents and House Parents on August 27, 2026, at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY)-CAR, Sablan, Benguet.
The activity featured two sessions tailored to the needs of the participants. Atty. Charlene L. Agrito-Docyogen discussed “Understanding the Legal Consequences of Unlawful Acts” with the residents, focusing on legal awareness, rights, responsibilities, and responsible decision-making.
Meanwhile, Dr. Corazon B. Alhido-Sacpa facilitated “Behavior Management and Positive Discipline: Guiding Children with Firmness, Compassion, and Respect” for the RRCY house parents and staff, focusing on practical strategies for responding to children’s behavior while maintaining appropriate boundaries and fostering a caring and respectful environment.
Together, UC-CCJE, UC-Rights2LIFE, and UC-CHRE continue to create spaces for learning, reflection, and meaningful engagement—helping empower children in conflict with the law while equipping those who care for them with knowledge and approaches that support their growth, dignity, and rehabilitation.
The initiative contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), by providing accessible and relevant learning opportunities that promote legal literacy, positive behavior, and life skills. It also aligns with SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by supporting children in conflict with the law through rights-based and inclusive approaches that uphold their dignity and promote equal opportunities for rehabilitation. Likewise, it achieves SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), by strengthening awareness of the law, human rights, accountability, and restorative approaches within the juvenile justice setting.
