On April 21, 2026, a member of the Baguio City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit and an alumnus of the University of the Cordilleras, Criminology Program, saw a boy in a dangerous position along an overpass in Harrison Road, Baguio City. The police officer, PCPL Credence Jayzer A. Magno, was off-duty during that time when he saw the child.
Instead of leaving the boy alone, PCPL Magno, rushed to physically secure the child, saving him from a dangerous situation. After which, PCPL Magno immediately contacted BCPO-TEU where they coordinated with the Women and Children Protection Desk of Police Station 7 to ensure the child received comprehensive professional care. Later the boy was reunited with his mother.
PCPL Magno demonstrates that true public service is not merely a professional obligation but a personal commitment to the protection of human life. His presence underscores that the safety of a city relies on the vigilance and courage of those dedicated to the service of others, even beyond the badge.
This event emphasizes UN SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through PCPL Magno rushing in to secure the child from danger. It also emphasizes SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) demonstrating how accountable and compassionate law enforcement personnel build public trust and maintain social stability.
