Cordillera Criminology Interns Gather for Regional University Jog

By: Keziah Nicole Fernandez

On November 15, 2025, the Cordillera Administrative Region witnessed a powerful display of institutional unity and dedication to professional training through the conduct of the Criminology Month 2025 – Regional University Jog. In celebration of Criminology Month, the event was organized by the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines – Cordillera Administrative Region (PCAP–CAR), where criminology interns from numerous institutions across the region gathered at Athletic Bowl, Burnham Park. Participants included criminology interns from University of the Cordilleras (UC), Benguet State University–La Trinidad (BSU), Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), Easter College, Baguio Central University (BCU), Kings College of the Philippines–La Trinidad (KCP), and the University of Baguio (UB).

The regional Battalion Jog served as a crucial collective training exercise, carefully facilitated and supervised by the RMFB 15 Project Kalinga Team (including PSSg Pinated, Pat Lucas Jr., Pat Salinas, Pat Wadwadan, and Pat Duca) alongside the Intern Advisers. Their monitoring ensured the safety, order, and structured flow of the entire activity. The purpose of the jog was to emphasize physical conditioning, discipline, and unity among the participants. By prioritizing these elements, the event directly aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by actively promoting physical conditioning and healthy lifestyles among future professionals. Furthermore, the rigorous structure and the emphasis on discipline contribute significantly to SDG 4 (Quality Education), providing practical, non-academic training essential for the interns’ professional development.

Additionally, the assembly of interns from various Cordillera institutions and their engagement in structured, disciplined training supports the aims of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). This type of regional collaboration, facilitated by PCAP–CAR, demonstrates strong inter-institutional cohesion, while the activity itself is designed to instill discipline and strengthen camaraderie among these future members of the justice system. By functioning as both a training exercise and a means of strengthening unity among criminology students across the region, the University Jog contributes to building strong, cohesive, and well-trained personnel necessary for maintaining safety and order in the future.
