On May 6, 2025, the Advanced Cadet Officers of the University of the Cordilleras–Philippine Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit (UC-PAF ROTCU) spearheaded a clean-up drive at Bayan Park, Aurora Hill. The community service activity aimed to restore the park’s cleanliness and promote a healthier public space for residents.
The initiative took place under the supervision of Sgt. Poclet, PAF (Res.), in partnership with the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 6. The cadet officers arrived early in the morning to sweep pavements, collect litter, and remove waste materials scattered across the park.
With brooms, dustpans, and trash bags in hand, they worked together to clean pathways, pick up debris, and improve the park’s overall environment. Their collective effort highlighted the spirit of volunteerism and their commitment to meaningful community service.

This activity strongly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By reducing health and sanitation risks, the cadets advanced Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3). Further, the collaboration with CEPMO and BCPO Station 6 exemplified Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), proving that community improvement thrives on collective action.
“It was a worthwhile experience. Helping the community mattered most,” shared one cadet after the event.
Through this initiative, the UC-PAF ROTCU demonstrated that service does not wait for convenience. Their dedication reinforced the value of civic responsibility, inspiring the community to take part in building a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
