On February 14, 2025, the University of the Cordilleras – College of Criminal Justice Education (UC CCJE) conducted a Faculty Development Program entitled “Understanding and Supporting Students with Special Needs: Physical, Cognitive, Emotional, and Behavioral.” This initiative was designed to provide faculty with essential knowledge and strategies to create an inclusive educational environment.
The program featured Ms. Noveen Shern N. Cadalig and Mr. Kane Strauss A. Odilan as keynote speakers, who facilitated an engaging discussion that promoted active participation among faculty members. Through their informative presentations and interactive dialogue, attendees developed a more profound comprehension of the difficulties encountered by students with special needs and examined effective methods for delivering both academic and emotional support.
This initiative demonstrates UC CCJE’s dedication to inclusive education, ensuring that every student, irrespective of their abilities, has equal access to learning opportunities. In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, the training highlighted the necessity of equipping educators with the skills to meet diverse learning needs, thereby promoting a more supportive and student-focused educational environment.
By enhancing faculty capabilities, UC CCJE remains committed to its mission of fostering an inclusive academic setting where all students can succeed. This Faculty Development Program not only improved educators’ teaching methodologies but also reinforced the university’s commitment to accessibility, compassion, and high-quality education for everyone.
