Collaborative Efforts in Wastewater Management: FujiClean Highlights UC’s Sewage Treatment Plant Practices

On June 5, 2023, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) hosted an international delegation for a benchmarking activity at its Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), with the endorsement of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) of Baguio City. This recognition positions UC as a benchmark in wastewater management, emphasizing the university’s dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation.

In collaboration with FujiClean Co., this event showcased UC as a leader in efficient wastewater treatment systems. It was a moment of pride for UC, reflecting its commitment to sustainable practices that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The benchmarking session included six representatives from FujiClean Co., alongside Engineer Wilbur Suanding from CEPMO. They were joined by three participants from UC, as well as the external service provider responsible for operating and managing the STP. The delegation received a warm welcome from UC’s Vice President for Academic Services.

The primary objective of this activity was to assess and benchmark the wastewater management practices at UC’s STP, which serves as a standard for other facilities in the city. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to evaluate advanced treatment technologies, exchange best practices, and identify areas for further innovation in wastewater management.

The acknowledgment from CEPMO of UC as a model institution for wastewater treatment underscores the university’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By hosting this benchmarking initiative, UC demonstrated its leadership in the adoption and implementation of modern wastewater treatment practices.
