The Locard’s Society of Forensic Science (LSFS) made a significant impact at the University of the Cordilleras School Organizations’ Open House, held on September 21 and 22. This dynamic two-day event attracted students eager to explore the captivating realm of forensic science, offering them hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations.

Hosted at the UC Gymnasium, the Open House fostered an engaging environment that allowed participants to investigate various forensic disciplines. The LSFS booth emerged as a focal point of activity, providing immersive experiences that mirrored the tasks performed in real-world forensic investigations. Students enthusiastically engaged in forensic odontology by identifying bite marks and participated in dactyloscopy, lifting their own fingerprints using techniques commonly employed by forensic professionals. Additional activities included forensic riddles inspired by criminal law and questioned document examinations, all meticulously designed to ignite curiosity and deepen understanding of the field.

This LSFS initiative not only highlighted the practical applications of forensic science but also aimed to raise awareness of its crucial role in the pursuit of justice. By involving students in hands-on tasks, the LSFS illustrated how forensic experts play a vital role in solving crimes and promoting peace and justice.

Moreover, this event aligns with two key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4, advocating for quality education through experiential learning, and SDG 16, which aims to enhance peace, justice, and strong institutions. By providing insight into the field of forensic science, the LSFS encourages students to consider careers that uphold the rule of law and advance social justice.
