Bridging Education and Public Service: UC CCJE Conducts Career Orientation Seminar

By: Criminology Practicum Interns

The University of the Cordilleras College of Criminal Justice Education had the opportunity to participate in a Career Orientation Seminar conducted by representatives from the Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit CAR of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Baguio Bravest – Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our distinguished guest speakers from the PNP Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit – CAR: PMAJ Jasmin P. Muñoz, PSMS Barby Fe M. Layaban, PSMS Emmanuel M. Dagsan, and PMSg Bernadette M. Abon, as well as our guest speakers from the Bureau of Fire Protection: SFO2 James Ray Agnad and FO2 Elmer Comila, for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and valuable guidance regarding the recruitment and application process in their respective organizations.

This seminar served as a valuable learning experience for aspiring future public safety officers, as it provided them with a clearer understanding of the recruitment and application processes of both organizations. The orientation focused on guiding future applicants through the different stages of the application process, including the requirements, procedures, and preparations needed before, during, and after recruitment. The speakers also shared important insights regarding the standards, qualifications, and expectations for individuals who wish to pursue a career in public service.

This meaningful activity was attended by the Criminology Practicum 2 Interns, Class of Siklab-Dayaw, and the Forensic Science Interns, Class of Silnag-Kinadamaan. Their insights have helped us become more informed and better prepared as we take our next steps toward our chosen professions in law enforcement, public safety, and criminal justice.

This activity aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing students with career-oriented learning opportunities and practical knowledge on recruitment and professional preparation; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by equipping aspiring public safety professionals with the skills and information needed for meaningful employment; and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by encouraging careers in law enforcement and public safety that contribute to effective, accountable, and well-prepared institutions.
