On March 24, 2026, the Atok Municipal Police Station in Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet, marked a significant milestone with a formal turnover of office ceremony. PCPT Juliet B. Kaniteng officially stepped into her role as the new Chief of Police, succeeding the outgoing COP, PCPT Deogracias M. Maguen.
Notably, Kaniteng is a Criminology graduate from the University of the Cordilleras who graduated cum laude and achieved the distinction of placing 10th nationally in the Criminology Licensure Examination. Now regarded as Atok’s First Woman Chief of Police, her transition was presided over by PCOL Lambert A. Suerte, who expressed complete confidence in PCPT Kaniteng’s integrity, vision, and compassion to lead the community forward.

The event, which was also attended by Atok Mayor Franklin Smith and other local officials, reaffirmed the Philippine National Police’s commitment to the community through its service.
This leadership transition aligns closely with several SDGs. Primarily, it supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by emphasizing a commitment to sustaining peace and order and enhancing public safety efforts in the municipality. Furthermore, the appointment of a female Chief of Police promotes SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by highlighting women in significant leadership roles within law enforcement. Finally, the mission to build a safer and more secure community for all directly contributes to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), ensuring that the residents of Atok live in an environment where safety and security are prioritized.
