Dr. Jevilyn Pasi-wen Madalang of the College of Criminal Justice Education proudly represented the University of the Cordilleras (UC) and the Philippines at the 2025 YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative) Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA) held in Thailand from July 25–30, 2025.

Chosen as one of only 57 emerging leaders from ASEAN and Timor-Leste out of more than 6,000 applicants, Dr. Madalang took part in intensive workshops and discussions on artificial intelligence, digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and women’s leadership.

During the program’s “Women Talk” segment, she highlighted her advocacy on victimization studies and women empowerment, underscoring the importance of education and leadership in promoting social justice and gender equality.

Her participation exemplifies UC’s dedication to developing globally minded leaders who make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. This engagement advances SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by empowering women leaders, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through leadership development, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by promoting inclusion and representation across ASEAN.
