By: Precious Sanchez

The University of the Cordilleras–College of Criminal Justice Education (UC CCJE) officially welcomed students to the third trimester of Academic Year 2024–2025 through its College Orientation held on March 24, 2025, at the UC Gymnasium.

The program opened with a warm reception as students filled the venue, signaling eagerness for the new trimester ahead. For many, the orientation was more than just a reminder of policies—it was a fresh start, a chance to reconnect with the UC CCJE community, and an opportunity to understand the values that the college continues to uphold.

College Dean Dr. Robino D. Cawi addressed the student body, underscoring the importance of discipline, responsibility, and inclusivity in the pursuit of academic excellence. He also tackled student concerns, clarified policies, and encouraged learners to maximize the support services available to them.

“Orientations like this help us feel guided and prepared,” shared one criminology student, noting how the event bridged the gap between faculty and students by opening discussions on challenges, updates, and expectations for the trimester.

Beyond policies, the event aimed to strengthen the social fabric of the college. Organizers emphasized that the orientation cultivates a culture of fairness and equality while empowering students to thrive academically and personally. This session reaffirmed UC CCJE’s vision of producing competent, ethical, and community-centered professionals in the field of criminal justice education.

Anchored in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the orientation reflected SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for all, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by ensuring that the college environment remains just, transparent, and supportive.

As UC CCJE moves forward this trimester, the orientation serves as a reminder that excellence is not only preserved through policies and standards but also through collaboration, empowerment, and the shared commitment of students and faculty to build a community rooted in justice and service.
