On March 9, 2024, the Graduate School students from the University of the Cordilleras – College of Criminal Justice Education hosted an outreach program at Tocmo Integrated School in Barangay Loakan, Itogon, Benguet. The seminar and workshop centered on crisis management, first aid, and basic incident response systems in which, participants received essential training and lectures aiming to enhance community resilience and preparedness for emergencies.
The program emphasized the importance of peace and justice through a lecture given by Patrolman Exequiel Acosta regarding the use of Force Continuum which fostered a deeper understanding of law enforcement principles. Further, it provided avenues for collaboration and closing of gaps between residents and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs). Through the interactive workshops, camaraderie was built among participants reflecting the commitment to community safety and well-being.
This outreach initiative highlighted the University of the Cordilleras’ dedication to social responsibility and the transformative power of education in creating resilient and informed communities. In a world increasingly defined by challenges, such collaborative efforts are essential for building a future where peace, justice, and strong partnerships flourish.
