By: Joy Nicole C. Canutab

On April 24, 2023, the RMFB Project Kalinga was officially launched at the University of the Cordilleras (UC), aiming to empower the BS Criminology interns through leadership training and community engagement. This initiative, led by the PNP – Regional Mobile Force Battalion, emphasizes the importance of camaraderie, discipline, and the development of essential life skills.

The event kicked off with an overview of Project Kalinga, followed by a series of lectures on Military Discipline and Courtesy, stressing the values of respect and integrity, then the Youth in Nation Building Act (RA 8044), which discussed their roles in the society specifically as to how they could become leaders in different and simple ways.

Project Kalinga contributes significantly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as it enriches educational experiences by providing practical training, directly supporting the goal of quality education. Further, it promotes civic responsibility and encourages active citizenship, which aligns with fostering peace, justice, and strong institutions. Lastly, it exemplifies the power of collaboration between educational institutions and law enforcement, showcasing how partnerships can drive progress.

As students engaged with Project Kalinga, they not only gained skills but were further equipped to become responsible leaders and active contributors to their communities. This initiative represents a vital investment in a future marked by peace, justice, and positive change.
